Northern Shoveler |
This photograph was taken by my son Dan. We both went to
Fossil Creek Reservoir armed with our cameras, but my battery was drained, so no shots on my part. He had his
Canon 70D set to seven frames per second, and caught this duck coming in for a landing. There were hundreds of ducks huddled together on the water - perhaps feeding just under the surface. The on-line Website at
Today's Wildlife Field Identification Guide was handy - the
Waterfowl link gave nice drawn images of the common water fowl and guided me to the
Northern Shoveler as the likely subject.
